Description
Tank rolling is the process of circulating or agitating fluid inside an oilfield storage tank—commonly done by circulating fluid in the tank - or more cheaply by flowing propane into the bottom of the tank.
It is done to mix the tank contents and suspend settled material such as sand, solids, paraffin, or heavier oil components. Common reasons include getting a more representative sample, preparing fluid for transfer or sale, reducing sludge buildup, improving BS&W measurement accuracy, and helping clean or condition the tank before hauling or maintenance.
